On my way home from CDS a few weeks ago, a nursing mother with a 6-month-old baby sat beside me. Her sitting position was not safe at all and I had to switch positions with her eventually. To my surprise, she was not grateful at all when I did that, her reaction was, that it what I should do. I did not even mind that at all. However, the most annoying thing was when she started using her body to create space coupled with the fact she was giving the, I don’t care attitude knowing completely that where I was sitting was delicate and not safe at all. Her actions irritated me and at that instant, I had this conversation with myself saying; Ayobamidele, it was your fault for caring about someone you do not know at first. You are endangering your life to make someone who does not care about your well-being comfy. Immediately, the holy spirit said to me, Ayobamidele, that was the same way Jesus died for you and you have been ungrateful toward him by the reason of your thought, as well as you assuming he did not want to do what you wanted. After all, you thought he should have done more than what you expected and you are being unreasonable thinking he left you alone in seasons like this. I began to cry forgetting that I was on the bus. My heart was heavy and all I was saying from my within was, God have mercy on me. The Holy Spirit ministered to me, bringing my awareness to the nature of Christ, the love that I am, and how I must express love to others irrespective of their response. I presume you are relating this to two or even more encounters you had that might be similar to mine. I reckoned you do not want to feel like you are being impolitic by how you are treated nevertheless, the reality of this is you are Lovable and your only choice is to represent Christ always. Loving your neighbor should be a way of life as Christians.
A dear friend will always say that we are human beings with blood and water running through us. We will offend one another nonetheless, you will permit the love of God to make you forgive and love people around you. In addition, coming into the consciousness that Love is patient, love is kind, love does not envy, love does not boast, it endures all things, love is compassionate and tender, and it never fails.
Appreciate yourself, do not wait for other people to celebrate you before you can express your identity. Be of good Comportment mixt with dignity and humility.
Say to yourself; “Hey Queen/King, I love you” without season. You should love yourself no matter the occurrences, situations, or conditions that have made you lock the door of your heart. I know well that you are hurt by both loved ones and strangers, disappointed by events you expected great end, I perceive it is a big deal for you yet, this is me telling you it is normal to feel unloved, what is not normal is you holding tight to it. I perceive you are burning from the inside out wanting to express your emotions. You can pour out your all telling the holy ghost to heal you, inviting God who is the true love to come fill the emptiness in you.
Can you give what you don’t have?
An adage in Yoruba says, “Before you quench a fire on a child’s body, quench yours”. This practically means love yourself first before you see the need to love other people.
You know that situation where you are planning to put God aside, yes I caught you, God resides in you and you are going to do what Christ would do if he was in the situation. You should probably be aware that despite the fact you keep falling into past mistakes, the undeniable love of God still calls and pulls you out.
Finally, It’s Christmas, the season of Love. Love yourself, love what you do, and extend the love of Christ to others. These are the commandments of our Lord Jesus Christ.
