The Process Called: Waiting

Have you ever ordered an expensive item with your life savings online, and it will take a few days before the package will be delivered? How do you feel? You feel eager, right? That same eagerness you feel while waiting for your package is the same or more you feel while waiting on God’s promises.

Whenever we talk about waiting, some think it’s a word used for women trusting God for the fruit of the womb and single sisters trusting God for their husbands and I think it’s beyond that. If you have a doubt, you can ask those who waited two years or more to gain admission to the university, those who trusted God for jobs, or those who trusted God for approved visas for years; better still, let’s ask the pregnant women about their experiences on how they waited for the delivery session. Many of us must wait in traffic daily to go to work or school. I remember a friend said to me, “Dele, why do I have to cook for 60-90 minutes when I will be eating it for 15 minutes?” The reality is that no one escapes the process of waiting. It is something we must all go through. The process of waiting is a very special, challenging, and often uncomfortable place, yet, it is necessary.

Waiting in this context is an expectation of a desire from someone (God) who can give it to us. One thing that amazes me is when God gives us an instruction during the process; I mean things that make no sense (although it doesn’t have to make sense) to us as men, we have no choice but to obey. How about when our present reality is not what we received from him? The kind of situation that make us feel “This is not what you told me” , “we had an agreement ” , “you never back out of your word,” and a lot of unexpressed emotions that destabilize our mental health. The waiting process is a season of preparation but it is a pity many now wait without preparing. God’s promises always come to pass, but he has to first prepare us for the promises he has for us. No matter how buoyant you are financially, you cannot start a house foundation and do the roofing on the same day. The waiting period is a season of dealing, a season of making, a season of falling and rising again, a season where men are being equipped for the assignment before them. Imagine waiting for just one thing for years, sowing in tears, faith, prayers, studying the word, and applying every necessary principle. Yet, it is not just coming. As someone built with emotions, it’s normal to feel tired and almost give up, but God wants us to understand and apply the principle of times and seasons. God makes everything beautiful in his own time. Inasmuch you are his son, when God asks you to wait, it might be a second, days, weeks, months, or even years, but you and I know that once he has said it, he will do it. The essence of this article is to remind us that we are highly treasured and created for a purpose and we have to wait to come into the fullness of that purpose.

The waiting process is a refining process; we will be taught and trained through the test of life. It helps to build capacity, faith, and total dependence on God. During the waiting process, pressure will be so high, temptations there and here, distractions will be present, and most of all, manipulation of our requests just to make us lose focus.

One thing I realize is that most of us wait in idleness, and I think it is time we change. Instead, we should work on ourselves in all spheres by learning new skills/courses, reading inspirational books, repenting from bad attitudes, going on solo dates, and building quality friendships, confidence, self-esteem, and courage. Once in a while,  taking a break from socials, drinking water, minding business, and sleeping is necessary in the process of waiting.

In conclusion, faithful is he that has promised. If he has said it, then he will do it. Let us trust God in the waiting process, let us be open to changes and corrections, and let us be intentional about our growth. At the set time, it will be fulfilled. Our expectations will be met, our desires will be fulfilled, and we are going to be a living testament of miracles.

If this article has blessed you by any means, please do not forget to discuss your opinions in the comment paragraph. And also, what’s more exciting than being a blessing to someone by communicating this with them? Thank you.

        Wow, such an inspiration.

It feels safe to know that the waiting season is for reflection and refining. And faithful is he that has promised, because when the process is whole and the season ripe, then there’s a glorious manifestation.
